Way back in 1991, a young chap called Chesney Hawkes burst onto the pop scene with the iconic ‘The One And Only‘ and dominated the UK Top 40 forever and the Number 1 position for five weeks; putting Chesney on the pop music map.
And for Nik Kershaw fans, it saw a welcome return to the pop charts not just as the song’s writer and co-producer, but also as backing vocalist and the purveyor of some seriously iconic guitar riffs!
‘The One And Only’ became an anthem for the 90s and beyond, featuring not only in Chesney’s debut acting role alongside the legendary Roger Daltrey, CBE in Buddy’s Song, but also in Doc Hollywood in 1991 starring Michael J.Fox and 2011’s Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal as the song that precedes impending doom in the movie!
Fast forward over 30 years, and Chesney has been chronicling his music career with the 5CD/1DVD box set ‘The Complete Picture’.
The box-set brings together all Chesney’s albums alongside B-sides, remixes, previously unreleased demos and outtakes; along with a DVD of promo clips, bonus material, international videos, Top Of The Pops, and live performances.
“It’s been a fun, cathartic experience revisiting all these tracks and I’m really proud of the finished product!” – Chesney Hawkes
A must for Chesney and Nik fans alike!
It’s released on 23rd March and available to pre-order now.
To coincide with the box-set release, ‘The One And Only’ has been given a refresh for 2022 by the one and only Nik Kershaw!
“It was such a thrill getting my hands on the multi tracks for The One And Only again. It took me right back to 1990, Studio 3 at Abbey Road and meeting young Chesney for the first time. Mates don’t come any better.” – Nik Kershaw
